When should I replace the nozzle and electrode?
Replace the nozzle when pierce starts get ragged or the orifice looks enlarged, and the electrode when the pit on its tip is deeper than about 1 mm. Running worn consumables forces the machine to work harder and ruins cut quality.
What is the difference between .040" and .045" nozzles?
A .040" (1.0 mm) nozzle suits thinner metal at around 40 A; a .045" (1.2 mm) nozzle carries 50–60 A for thicker plate. Match the orifice to your cutting current.
